I’m Rachel Huckvale, and I founded Start Talking in 2016.
I worked in higher education marketing and communications for six years, starting in printed publications before moving into multi-channel community news and research communications, and eventually managing Brunel University’s Communications team.
My highlight was the London 2012 Olympic Games, where I covered the achievements of Brunel’s students and of the two major international teams training on campus. It was a really exciting time and it made me fall in love with my job – but then in 2014 my daughter Caroline was born and I swiftly realised who was now the boss. Start Talking allows me to combine the work I value with my family life.
I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2006 with a first class degree in English and Modern Languages, before completing a Masters in English Literature with Distinction at the University of Bristol.
I live in Watlington, Oxfordshire with Caroline and my husband Ben.
